14 июня— День работника миграционной службы России

Ежегодно 14 июня в России отмечается профессиональный праздник — День работника миграционной службы, установленный Указом Президента РФ № 701 от 4 июня 2007 года.

В 1992 году Указом Президента Российской Федерации была создана Федеральная миграционная служба (ФМС) России, которая в конце 1999 года была преобразована в Министерство по делам федерации, национальной и миграционной политики РФ. Министерство формировалось на базе Службы и бывшего министерства по делам национальностей в конце 2001 года.

23 февраля 2002 года Указом Президента Российской Федерации «О совершенствовании государственного управления в области миграционной политики» функции иммиграционного контроля и координации действий федеральных органов исполнительной власти субъектов РФ по вопросам миграции были возложены на МВД России.

5 апреля 2016 года Федеральная миграционная служба была упразднена, а её функции и полномочия Указом Президента РФ переданы Главному управлению по вопросам миграции Министерства внутренних дел Российской Федерации (ГУВМ МВД России), которое является самостоятельным структурным оперативным подразделением центрального аппарата Министерства внутренних дел РФ.

В задачи Управления входит выработка и реализация государственной политики в сфере миграции и осуществление правоприменительных функций, функций по контролю, надзору и оказанию государственных услуг в сфере миграции, а также — борьба с незаконной иммиграцией. Подчиняется Министру внутренних дел РФ.

В свой профессиональный праздник все работники и ветераны миграционной службы получают поздравления от руководства, коллег и друзей.
